Terms of Service

August 28, 2026

These terms cover your use of FileBench ("FileBench", "we", "us"), the file conversion, compression, editing, inspection, and management tools at filebench.app. By using FileBench, you agree to them.

Acceptance of these terms

By accessing or using FileBench, you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use FileBench.

Eligibility

You must be able to form a legally binding agreement to use FileBench, and must comply with the laws that apply to you wherever you use it.

Your account

If you create an account, you're responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity that happens under your account. Tell us promptly at support@filebench.app if you believe your account has been compromised.

Allowed use

You may use FileBench to convert, compress, edit, inspect, and manage files you own or otherwise have the legal right to process.

Prohibited use

You agree not to use FileBench to:

  • Upload, process, or distribute malware or other malicious files.
  • Upload or process content that is illegal in the jurisdictions relevant to your use.
  • Infringe anyone else's copyright or other intellectual property rights.
  • Abuse FileBench's infrastructure — for example excessive automated requests, denial-of-service attempts, or anything designed to degrade the service for other users.
  • Attempt to bypass rate limits, upload quotas, or other security or access controls.
  • Access accounts, files, or systems you're not authorized to access.
  • Use FileBench as a tool to attack, scan, or otherwise target third-party systems.

File ownership

You retain ownership of the files you upload and of the output files FileBench generates from them. FileBench claims no ownership rights over your content — we process it to provide the service you requested, nothing more.

Your responsibility for uploaded content

You're solely responsible for the files you upload and for having the right to upload and process them. FileBench does not review file content before processing (see our Privacy Policy) and is not responsible for content you choose to upload.

Intellectual property

FileBench's own software, design, branding, and trademarks belong to FileBench (or its licensors) and aren't covered by the license you have to your own uploaded content. Nothing here grants you rights to FileBench's own intellectual property beyond what's needed to use the service normally.

Temporary storage and retention

FileBench is a temporary-processing service, not persistent cloud storage. Guest uploads are kept for approximately 1 hour and registered-account files for approximately 7 days, after which they're deleted automatically on a recurring schedule (see our Privacy Policy for details). Don't rely on FileBench as your only or long-term copy of any file.

Service availability

FileBench is provided on an "as-is" and "as-available" basis. We don't guarantee uninterrupted availability, and the service may be unavailable for maintenance, technical issues, or other reasons outside our control.

Processing limitations

FileBench applies reasonable limits to file size, concurrent jobs, and similar operational parameters to keep the service usable for everyone; these limits may change and may differ between guest and registered accounts. Some files may be unsupported, corrupted, or otherwise fail to process — we'll try to surface a clear error rather than a silent failure, but we can't guarantee every file will process successfully.

Converting or otherwise transforming a file is not guaranteed to preserve every property of the original — for example metadata, exact bit-for-bit quality, or embedded data specific to the source format may be altered or removed by the operation you requested.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, FileBench is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including loss of files, data, or business, resulting from processing errors, service downtime, or file deletion under our retention policy. Nothing here limits liability where the law doesn't allow it to be limited.

Termination and suspension

We may suspend or terminate access to FileBench, for an individual account or more broadly, if we reasonably believe these terms have been violated — for example through abuse, security violations, or prohibited use as described above. We'll aim to act proportionately to the issue involved.

Changes to the service or these terms

FileBench may change, add, or remove features over time, and may update these terms as the service evolves. We'll update the "last updated" date above when we do; continuing to use FileBench after a change means you accept the updated terms.
